Welcome to February, my friends! Can you believe it is the second month of 2020? Because I can't. Anyway, how has your year been so far? Mine has been fun but busy.
At the end of 2019, my dad wound up in the hospital. He is okay but has a long way to go. I took off a week and drove my grandma, daughter, and myself 800 miles to spend a week with him.
Let me tell you something... My grandma is 86 years old. I have been her granddaughter (almost) thirty years. That trip was one of the best times I spent with her. I learned things about her I never knew. How she met my grandpa, what it was like growing up in New Mexico in the '40s, what my mom was like when she was younger. I may have cried a few times.
I'll probably do a post about it soon. Maybe I'll even sit down with her and ask her more questions, too. Seeing history through the eyes of someone who lived it is fasinating.
Other than that, I've kept pretty busy. I sent out my second newsletter (and the first one of the year) in January. And boy am I blown away! Everyone in a writing group I'm in praises StoryOrgin. I was skeptical since I don't have a large following, and I am not confident in my writing.
But wow! As of today, I have 48 new subscribers. That might seem like a lot, but considering I had only 10 subscribers and 8 of them were family and friends, I am beyond excited.
That gives me so much confidence. All of these new subscribers are signing up because of my short story. (If you haven't read it, sign up for my newsletter on my website and I'll send it to you!) I worked so hard on it. I changed the cover three times and the blurb about six. So, yes, I am thrilled!
Over the weekend, I wrote the first 15,000 words of book four in my Lenore Monroe Series! This one has a lot of depth. Cloudy Spring Days was my favorite to write, until this one. I am a little sad to end this series, but I think it is time to move on. No matter what, these characters will stay with me and guide me through the rest of my writing journey. They made me an author and I will forever be grateful for them. ... Even if they live in my head ;-)
Well, that’s it for now! My husband and I are going on a mini vacay for his birthday tomorrow! Have a great weekend! Until next time!
